Japanese Carving File Half Round – Fine – 110mm
Rather than having individual teeth set along the length and width of the blade, these files have chemically etched ridges that act more like tiny plane blades. This means that rather than scratching material away from the surface creating dust, each cut produces minute shavings which results in a far smoother surface that looks more like it has been planed to shape instead of filed. Cut into the ridges are regularly spaced grooves that run in a diagonal pattern to assist with waste removal and act like chip breakers preventing the file from clogging. These files are primarily used for finishing work and each file has safe edges that will not scratch or dig into the adjacent surfaces, but they can also be used for initial shaping work if required. Used in all areas of woodwork as well as in carving, these single sided files can be used on all species of hardwoods and softwoods, plastics, plaster and even aluminium.
This half round carving file has a blade which is 110mm long and 10mm wide. The handle is 100mm that has a rubberised grip for comfort during use. The blades are made from V-Toku2 alloyed steel which is known for high toughness and excellent wear resistance. These extremely fine single sided files are used for finishing work. ©
