Carving Tools – Set of 6
Made in Germany, the blades on these carving tools are made from a premium quality, hand forged chrome vanadium tool steel, which has high resistance to metal fatigue and will last a lifetime if given normal care when relief or round carving. Each blade is hardened to Rc61 along its entire length, resulting in a blade that will hold and retain a sharp, fine edge, over the life of the tool, without becoming brittle when sharpened. The blades are finely polished to achieve a mirror finish to minimise friction when roughing out or adding fine detail. The blade and tang are forged from one piece of steel, which is seated deeply into the chisel handle for strength and durability. The tools are fully honed and ready for use or you can add your preferred bevel angle by further grinding.
The handles are made from slow growing beech selected for its straight grain and strength. The octagonal shape ensures a secure, comfortable grip and prevents the tools rolling on the bench. Every handle is permanently engraved with the blade’s pattern number and size for easy identification. The tools measure approximately 240mm overall in length with a handle length of 130mm.
This 6 piece set was developed in consultation with professional carvers for both relief and round carving and is ideal for both beginners and intermediate wood carvers. The set is beautifully presented in a canvas roll with each carving tool having its own location to prevent movement and to protect the blades. The set includes #1 straight chisel 8mm, #1s skew chisel 8mm, #5 gouge 8mm, #8 gouge 4mm, #11 veiner 3mm and #12 parting tool 6mm. ©
