Cross Dowel Jig
This cross dowel jig provides perfect drill bit alignment for precise, repeatable cross dowel joinery. Wrapping around the edge of the workpiece, the jig allows both bolt hole and dowel hole to be drilled together, whilst maintaining perfect central alignment. Cross dowel joinery is selected for its incredible strength and ability to withstand high levels of torque, commonly used in flat-pack furniture and framing construction. Used with durable cross dowels and bolts, joints can be repeatedly disassembled and reassembled with no degradation to the workpiece.
Five hardened steel guide bushes are supplied: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm & 15mm, screwing into the jig body and providing guidance for a wide range of cross dowel and connector bolt diameters. The position of the cross dowel can be located from 10mm to 85mm from the workpiece edge, with the bolt hole centered on stock 20mm to 70mm in thickness. Clear, laser etched metric scales are provided on both working faces, with scale pointers on both sliding drill guides for quick and easy setup. V shaped pointers on the body of the jig allow easily alignment against layout lines on the workpiece. Once set, the jig can be clamped in place onto the workpiece, keeping both hands free for drilling. The cross dowel hole can be stopped, hiding the dowel on the external face, or drilled straight through the workpiece to show off the end of the dowel as a design accent.
The body of the jig is precision CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminium, sitting at a perfect 90 degree angle over the workpiece edge. Each aluminium component features a durable, anodised finish to ensure scratch, wear and corrosion resistance. This jig will make the building of furniture, workbenches or any other project requiring easy disassembly, a quick and accurate process. Cross dowels and connector bolts not included. ©
