Crown Dead Centre
These crown dead centres feature a spring loaded centre point to ensure super-fast set up and dismounting of the turning blank. The spring tension can be adjusted to suit the density of the wood, simply by rotating a grubscrew. Surrounding the centre point is a series of 20 razor sharp, precision machined teeth that will not split the wood. They are extremely safe to use, as you can reduce the pressure from the tailstock which prevents the work from revolving in the event of a turning tool dig-in and you can stop the work for inspection without having to switch off the lathe. When used in conjunction with the crown revolving centre which has the same geometry, you can reverse your work, knowing that it will reposition in perfect alignment.
CNC machined from a hardened tool steel, the dead centre is perfectly balanced to ensure concentricity, resulting in super fine, chatter-free finishes to the turning. The crown drive centre can be used with equal confidence on both soft and hardwoods as well as synthetic materials when pen making. These are premium, heavy duty, dead centres that are much safer, faster and easier to use than conventional centres. ©
