K10 Carbide Hollowing Tools – Set of 3
This set comprises of three full-size K10 carbide hollowing tools with straight, gentle curve and sharp curve profiles. These new hollowing tools are very easy to control and allow you to focus on the shape of the turning rather than on the tool. They are suitable for both roughing out and delicate finishing cuts. The wide flat face of the blade shaft sits flush against the tool rest, automatically presenting the cutter at the correct angle to the workpiece. The 9mm diameter circular blade is manufactured from K10 Carbide, which is extremely hardwearing, retaining its edge for longer even when working with hard and exotic woods. The blades are bevelled and will not clog in wet or resinous woods, ensuring a smooth and consistent finish to the workpiece. When the blade shows signs of wear simply rotate it around to an unused section to create a fresh edge.
The shafts of the tools are made from stainless steel, which is extremely durable and will not rust when in contact with wet or acidic wood. The full-size handles are ergonomically designed to allow for optimum grip and comfort and are made from a slow growing beech that has been selected for its straight grain, to ensure maximum strength. The shanks of the blades are buried deep into the beech handles and secured by a solid stainless steel ferrule.
The straight shafted hollower features a tapered cross section to allow for clearance of swarf when initially hollowing out, ensuring super fast operation and a smooth finish. It is used for the initial hollowing out of bowls prior to using the curve tools for clearing out sides and undercut areas of the bowl. It will leave a smooth, super fine finish to the inner bowl. The gentle curve hollower features a moderate gooseneck curvature to allow for clearing out of the inner sides of a bowl. It is commonly used after the initial hollowing out of bowls has been carried out with the straight hollower. It will leave a smooth, super fine finish to the inner bowl. The sharp curve hollower features a pronounced gooseneck curve designed for reaching into sharply undercut areas of the rim of the bowl. It is normally used as the final hollowing out tool, as it can reach areas of the inner bowl that the other two hollower can not reach. It will leave a smooth, super fine finish to the inner bowl. ©
